Privacy Policy

Dumi ("the App") is developed by Jacob Hendrik Huisman.
Your privacy matters to us. This document explains how information is handled within the App.
1. Data Collection
The App stores your onboarding answers, food preferences, saved favourites, the meals that have helped you, any meal photos you choose to take, and your chosen colour theme locally on your device. This data is processed locally to provide you with personalized meal suggestions and to keep track of what works for you.
2. Local-Only Storage
All your data — onboarding answers, food preferences, favourites, helped-meals history, meal photos, and any text you type into the App — stays on your device. The App does not sync to iCloud, does not upload your data to our servers, and does not share it with any third parties (with the narrow exceptions described in sections 3 and 8 below).
3. AI Meal Suggestions
When you ask the App to suggest something to eat, the relevant details from your request are sent to an AI model to generate a small, calibrated suggestion. Only the information needed for that suggestion is sent — for example your selected energy level, the ingredients you have on hand, your food preferences (likes, dislikes, and things to avoid), and the meal context. Your name, email address, saved favourites, meal photos, and any other personal data are not included.
The request is routed through OpenRouter, an AI model gateway, to Anthropic's Claude model (which generates the response). Both providers process the request to produce the response and may temporarily retain it for operational and abuse-prevention purposes, in accordance with their own privacy policies:

The App does not store these requests on our servers. The response (the suggested meal) is shown to you in the App and discarded once you move on.
4. Camera and Meal Photos
The App lets you take an optional photo of a meal to save alongside it. To use this feature, the App requires camera and/or photo library permission, which you can grant or revoke at any time in your iPhone settings.
Any photo you take is stored only on your device, inside the App's private storage. Photos are never uploaded to our servers, never sent to the AI model, and never shared with third parties. Removing a meal, or deleting the App, also removes its photo.
5. Analytics and Third-Party Services
The App does not use advertising, advertising identifiers, or marketing tracking. We do not run analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or telemetry on your device. Your preferences, saved meals, photos, and any other personal data are not shared with third parties beyond the narrow integrations described in sections 3 (OpenRouter and Anthropic for meal suggestions) and 8 (Web3Forms for feedback transmission).
6. In-App Purchases
The App offers premium features through in-app purchases:
- Monthly Subscription: auto-renewing subscription that provides access to premium features
- Yearly Subscription: auto-renewing subscription with a free trial, then billed annually
- Lifetime Purchase: one-time payment for permanent access
Payment Processing: Apple's App Store manages all payment processing. The App itself never receives or stores payment details, credit card information, or billing addresses.
Subscription Management: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID account settings in the App Store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. For yearly subscriptions, you can cancel during the free trial period to avoid being charged.
Refunds: Refund requests are handled by Apple according to their refund policy.
7. Notifications
The App may send you local notifications to gently remind you to eat or to check back in. These notifications are scheduled locally on your device and do not require any external services. You can control notification permissions in your iPhone settings and toggle notifications on or off within the App settings.
8. Feedback and Contact
The App provides a feedback feature that allows you to send us messages directly. When you open Support and send a message, your message — including any optional name and email address you provide — is transmitted securely to us via a third-party email service (Web3Forms). We only receive the information you choose to include. Your feedback is sent to our email address and is not stored by the third-party service beyond the transmission process.

9. Data Deletion
You can delete your data at any time by deleting the App from your device. All preferences, saved meals, meal photos, and any other locally stored data will be permanently deleted when you remove the App. You can also reset the App to its first-launch state from Settings, which clears your saved data on the device.
